Land dweller's angel returns

A salty breeze hits my face,
Holding you in a warm embrace,
i walk pushing the ground beneath,
Unaware of the prying eyes falling underneath.

This is where i stopped days ago and i still couldn't resume it. A train of thoughts begin going to all dark and beautiful places at the same time. Some thoughts shake the very basis of life and how we live it the way we live. What if everyone turns to be good, will it ever work!?

The land dweller's angel returns,
Bringing life that ever since did mourn,
Closing my eyes i stroke your hair,
Feeling your breath on my skin fair.

Your arrival marks my rebirth,
Like raindrops fall on barren earth.
We shall go to places together,
Places which none would dream about.

Yesterday you were here, so was i
We danced together with colors in our eyes,
When the moon shone bright,
My angel left my sight.

Angel of the sea returns... to his Land dweller. Wish the angel stayed back.

Come to me, My elixir!!!

I will never let this moment go,
Come to me, come near me
My life, my elixir...

The morning sun shines bright,
She again came in my dreams
Beckoning me to follow her,
Into the infinite realms

I have spent my past searching for her,
More I am nearer, vivid is my dream,
For the love I have for her,
Maybe she will come to me after all...

I ask for no boon hereafter,
No worldly pleasures of any manner,
For I have found my heaven in you,
This will last forever and ever...

My life's purpose is to be with you,
As you are my identity, my definition for life,
I do not exist without you,
As you are my breaths of fresh air...

Come to me, my soul,
I have waited for you long enough,
Let my dream become reality,
And release me from this slumber...

After a long gap, i scribble again. The inspiration being, ever romantic Indian Cinema and its beautiful soulful songs. This is "Nee paartha Paarvai" from the movie Heyy Ram. Something which struck me while sitting idle at work. My inspiration, as usual my writer friend who said to write to her but it turned out i have to write something else again.

A simple story

"Life is not complex. We are complex.
Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing."- Oscar Wilde

In a village, there used to be a farmer named Bhola. Family of Bhola consisted of himself, his mother, his wife and children. He owns a farmland on which he grows pulses and other seasonal vegetables. At times, he does manual labour work in a nearby factory to meet both the ends. Bhola sometimes needs to keep night vigil, unless some harm might come to the crops.

Every night Bhola used to lit a fire in a corner and keep vigil. After a few nights, he took a dog with him for keeping company at night. He would make strange noises to ward off animals, mimic bird cries, talk to the dog to keep himself awake. Time went on, Bhola let himself loose at night and sleep. The dog would wake him up when something bizarre happens.  As time passed on, Bhola made dog in-charge of the fields and he himself used to enjoy his sleep.

One day, when Bhola returned after a night vigil, his mother advised him to go to factory to earn some money because the money coming from the farm growth wasn't enough. Bhola reluctantly joined in, cursing the old lady. During the day, he toiled hard in the factory and at night, he kept vigil in his fields. This double duty was getting on his nerves.

One night an incident happened. As usual, Bhola lit a fire, went on talking to the dog till he slept. In the morning, his wife woke him up with a start. Bhola confused, looked at her and asked, why is she here in the fields so early in the morning. His wife asked him to look around. Then he saw, the complete field was burned to the grounds. The fire which he lit the previous night spread onto the complete field. His wife started cursing him. For which Bhola replied – “Let it go, woman! I can’t stand this double duty any more. Good riddance that the field got burned. Even this dog didn't wake me up. What do I do?” his wife was surprised and didn't say anything.

After a long time, I came across a short story. The story was telecast on TV channel and what I will be sharing might not be a complete copy but a vague one. Such a simple reply Bhola made for such a grave issue. The farmland was his lifeline which right now was razed to the grounds and what his thoughts were centred on was, his sleep. Bhola knows that something will eventually turn up, no matter what.

The quote is totally related to the story. We do the job which we don't like but we do, just because of fear of not getting another one. We take up things which we don't like but do it eventually to satisfy others. At times, we forget to live our own lives.

Moments make life.

“Nila kaigiradhu, neram theigiradhu,
Yaarum rasikkavillaye, Endha kangal mattum unnai kaanum.”

The sun was setting down. I was sitting on a bench near a window sipping coffee and looking outside. I could see a group of boys playing volleyball nearby, 2 friends enjoying some lone time at the garden, people walking to and fro and a thought arose. The moment stopped. With my coffee mug in the mid air, I got lost in thoughts. At times, we forget about relishing, enjoying the moment.

Recently, I changed cities, got a job, just came out of college, started living with new people in a new environment and it has been overwhelming from the start. I go to office, eat my breakfast, attend sessions, take breaks, eat lunch, fill all kinds of forms every other day, meet new people, evening sets in and head for home. The one thing or rather the only thing which i have noticed since getting into this next stage of life is, I fail to observe the moment. I forgot what is called relishing.

Two times a day, I go to cafeteria / canteens, look at boards, pay cash at counters, take the token, stand in line with a plate in hand, take the food, and find a place to sit, look at the watch and start eating food. There is only two kind of food - good and the bad.  I eat it as soon as possible and leave the canteen. I take coffee during tea breaks. I press the button, liquid pours in, and I take the hot cup and start drinking with my eyes on the watch. During weekends, the day starts lazily, even though how early we start.  I look at places which has not been covered yet, pick up friends, start for the city, switch vehicles, click pictures, find places, ask for different poses, keep an eye on watch, visit colorful malls, get lost among the crowd, eat food at new joints, buy / not buy merchandise, switch vehicles again and back to home. At home, transfer photographs from camera to laptop, again transfer it in a drive and distribute to all. At times, we are so carried on with surrounding that we forget some substantial elements of life.

Well, the realization came sooner than later. While taking a stroll down the lane the other day, I started observing my surrounding. The flowers, dust covering them, people, clean roads, everything surprised me. Involuntarily, I slowed my stride and saw the world running around me. There was so much to look up; even my eyes weren't enough to see them all. Time flew past and I didn't even know I spent a few hours just roaming around my home. I was lost again in this huge world.

When we start living our moments, even bad coffee tastes better, food gets tastier, people become more interesting. This so called fast paced life slows down itself. The morning sun and the huge blanket of stars above your head become your company and keep you engaged.

I am holding a hot beverage sitting on a bench all alone thinking and writing, hearing a soft song being played somewhere far. My phone beeps; I get a message from a friend, my cycles of thoughts take a turn. My moment is waiting.

Moon is shining, time is fading,
There’s nobody to enjoy it, these eyes alone will watch you.

In search of...

I saw her under the moon,
Her face shining brightly like silver,
Her feet lightly touching the floor,
Like fresh leaves falling off the tree.

She was in my dreams tonight,
Talking and caressing me,
I was sleeping on her lap,
Listening to her silence.

I wake up seeing the scorching sun,
Yearning for a sip of crystal water,
But to find only a mirage,
I set out to search for her.

With parched lips,
I traverse the stretch of sands,
Aimlessly walking like the dead,
To find the angel of my dreams.

I see a wanderer nearing me,
Is he an apparition or in real?
He talks of my love, of my dreams,
He points towards a direction.

I stare into the evening sun,
Wanderer vanishes out of my sight,
The night falls in,
Bringing back my pain along with despair.

I remember a man say to me,
“take a step forward, only then you know,
What lies behind the peak.”
Determined I set out in search of you.

Journey ... further away

I stood there speechless seeing the light,
So pure, so beautiful.
A new world, with so much around,
My heart gave a leap.

Leaving the old woods behind,
A fresh start i began.
Leaving my folks behind,
Went on to search new faces.

As i started my journey, strangers joined in,
Some pleasant, some afraid,
Some good, some fearless,
Some lucky, some charming.

Striving hard, climbing high,
Edgy every moment.
I walked on and on,
Sometimes fast , sometimes lone.

Remains of old wood, killing every moment,
Fresh little thorns pinching here and there.
Same bright light shining sweetly,
Faces go hither and thither.

I listen to a tune coming from far off,
Same faces run away.
Am all alone, accompanied only by the tune,
And the pure light.

Tall mountains erupt, meadows spread,
Nature with all its greenery, invite me.
Reluctant to move on,
I sit beneath the thorns and the woods.

I see a cliff, below, the violent sea singing,
The tune carries me off my path.
Carried away by the music,
My emotions choke me out.

I run like a child and the waters call me invitingly,
Overwhelmed and happily, i jump off.
The soft breeze, the cold water,
Take my breath away.

The woods, my lone traveler,
My charm, my soul,
The old woods, the beautiful tune,
All near me, looking at me.

I am freed, freed from change,
Freed from loneliness, freed from fear.
May be the same tall mountains, sprawling meadows,
A new shore waiting for me in my world.

A journey...

I stood amidst the dense trees
And I saw you standing tall with glee
With grace in your walk and smile on your face
Thanking my lucky stars, I made my way.

“Who are you?” I asked
“Messenger of love” you said
You are my way across the forest, I thought
But my lucky stars had something else to say.

We met many people on our way,
Good people, wrong people, Naïve people, humble people.
People came hither and thither, but you remained there,
by my side, fulfilling my stars prophecy.

You spoke about, one of your kind,
Walking beside you all the time,
Invisible to me, but visible in your thoughts.
Afraid of losing you, I caught hold of your fingers.

A lone traveler joined in,
new to the valley and new to the people.
A little group formed merrily,
with the forest edge coming in our sight.

Our eyes hit a bright light,
Strange were they, called as light of life.
You stood there, saying
“Here ends my journey.”

Traveler and I stood there rooted.
A loud rumble followed by a divine voice spoke,
“O man of land”, our eyes looked up.
Fairies high in the air, singing your glories.

For you are the lucky charm,
Bestowed upon me by my lucky stars,
To help me out in the darkness of life,
And take me to the heavens of memories.

Memories. From darkness to memories. From a stranger to a friend. To my dear friends, i only wish that i have you all the time by my side.

An angel of the sea...

I will wait for you by the shores,
While you go around the world,
Because I am the dweller of the land,
And you are an angel of the sea.

I will stand behind you,
Remaining invisible to the world
Because I am your shadow,
And you are my living part.

I will sit beside you,
Listening to your unspoken words,
Because I am your thoughts,
And you are my creator, my heart.

I will search for you in the crowd,
Although you may have gone far away,
Because I am the dweller of the land,
And you are an angel of the sea.

Poetry. More the beautiful ,more it is difficult to write (for me, atleast). Am not a poet, never been one. The length, the meter, the lines, the words may be wrong, but this is what i wish to express. Hope its good.
